5.1.13

I had a wonderful day! I met my friend C in the city. She lives in Chicago so I don’t get to see her very often. We wandered around the Highline park and ate pizza and ice cream. Afterwards we met a group of her friends for dinner. It was a lot of fun.

The cool thing about dinner was that everyone I spoke to at dinner had these interesting lives. Like they were actually doing things. They weren’t just sitting in cubicles and hating it. It was refreshing to see people a little older than me who’d worked at becoming good at something and enjoying it. I like that. I want something similar for myself.

I finished the other application today. I decided I should really have someone look over it before I send it off. If I’m not accepted to this class it throws a pretty big wrench in my plans so I’d like to minimize the chance of that happening as much as possible. I’d hoped to get it submitted today, but I haven’t been able to connect with a friend I texted earlier about looking it over. Hopefully I’ll hear back from her tomorrow and I’ll be able to get it submitted then.

After finishing the application I went to the gym. I had intended on doing squats, but once I got there decided to use the eliptical machine instead. I ended up going for 27 miles (4 hours) again. The first 3 hours went really well and weren’t hard at all, but that last hour was pretty tough. I ate a banana right before I started working out which I think probably made a big difference. If I do another long stint on the eliptical machine I plan to try eating a banana right before I start and then at the 2 hour mark eat another one to see if it gives me a boost and makes it easier to finish the 4 hours (or perhaps go longer). It was much easier this time than it was last week when I did the same thing. I really should not be working out excessively like this, but I’ve decided if I’m able to start running again I should plan to do a marathon. Ultimately I think ultra marathoning would amazing, but there’s a lot to be settled with the knees before I start thinking too much about running at all.

Gratitude List:
The ability to spend excessive amounts of time working out
Being able to sleep in
Being so close to done with the applications for certification
